King Street Chair

High fashion meets everyday living in this Charleston inspired lounge chair.   The sartorial details on this frame are subtle but showcase a quality of craftsmanship that few can achieve.  The dry rubbed mahogany frame is imagined to be immaculately tailored with complimentary leather and laced down the inside edge as shown below.

9 o'clock rocker

The 9 o'clock rocker was inspired by one of Salvatore Ferragamo's shoe patents from early in his career.  The beautiful lines that appear on this shoe inspired my to translate them to a transitional rocker that would be ready for you when it's time to relax.  Using the "lounge" rung geometry made famous by Sam Maloof, you get an incredible ride that is designed for subtle rocking or simply sitting instead of the "calorie burning" rung that requires you to bounce in order to sit.  The name comes from the time of evening when my 2 year old goes to bed.  After 9pm in my house, we finally get to relax!

Pointe Chair and Ottoman

The Pointe chair and ottoman was inspired by one of Salvatore Ferragamo's shoe patents that he created after his daughter Fiamma took up ballet.  The simplistic lines that make up this slipper inspired me to create a lounge chair that is both beautiful and practical.  The sketch pattern on the heel was a beautiful example of the natural and heavily textured grain of Ash wood.  In staying true to Ferragamo's form, the front of the chair starts with a smaller scale of exposed Ash wood and creates a graceful curve as it gets larger towards the outback of the chair.  The small exposed wing and inside curve of the rear leg allows for a delightful interpretation of a ballerina in pointe pose.  As a finishing detail, it became evident that the exposed Ash wood should run around the outside back of the chair essentially "tying" the arms to the chair just as the laces tie the slipper to the ballerina's ankle.  The ottoman in this sketch features the Pointe legs of the ballerina, and a flip top that has an ottoman on one side, and a solid surface on the other side.  This allows you to pull it up next to you to serve as an end table.

Candlestick Sofa

The Candlestick sofa was inspired by an antique candlestick maker at the Middleton Place plantation in Charleston, SC.  The simplistic lines of oak frame showcased on this antique offer a unique perspective into pass through tenon joinery and precision craftsmanship.  The arms of the wax drip inspired the top rail and base of this casual living sofa.  See the antique candlestick maker below.
